Something I found out about that from my accident: Geico paid less than $100 for my ER visit, yet Blue Cross' negotiated fee was over $800.

The only reason I know this is because my doctor is affiliated with the hospital so they had my insurance info. Even before a claim was submitted to the driver's insurance, the hospital billed Blue Cross and I got a bill for co-pay (more than Geico ended up paying for it all). Once Geico got involved I had to have the bills redirected to Geico. I was shocked how different the negotiated fees were.
