I think what is easily overlooked is how funny it was, especially in the first few seasons.

Studio 60 and Sports Night didn't hit the witty humor as well as West Wing did. Part of that may have been the cast -- the cast of The West Wing was superb (though I was pleasantly surprised by Matthew Perry in Studio 60).
