safeway recently has had 4x points for gas for buying gift cards. if they didn't have a cap for discounts, it wouldn't be hard for a non-big-family

Yep, exactly. I bought $400 in Amazon gift cards for 1600 points. The rest was groceries, soap and prescriptions. -- nm
