Seems like it's to use forwards at center since Chandler can't play 40+ minutes every game.

I know Howard and Bosh are injured but are there only three centers in the league that are good enough to play on the US team?
You'd think they'd at least have two on the team. Having guys playing out of position often can be a real problem against some of the big teams they're going to face.
