If new origin story = reboot, then Transformers is definitely a reboot.

They had a totally different reason for being on Earth then the original cartoon series.

I could see MDH or Reagen's argument that a low budget cartoon doesn't count against a reboot, but it's still taking an established franchise, and reinventing it with new actors, a new look, and new direction.

I'm also not sure why it's just accepted that a "reboot" means less money when James Bond made more than it ever did before.
