Maybe it's just me, but I consider covert military operations to be the more logical explanation than aliens in that case.

It's not that aliens can't exist, they certainly may, but are they honestly just surreptitiously doing fly-bys are our planet every once in a while without us gathering any good proof that they exist? I just don't see it.
