get one of the ones with a larger canister. I got my Dyson from Woot a few months back - and I love it, it picks up *everything* - but it's such a small canister, I find that I'm emptying 3 or 4 times per use when vacuuming the whole house. With a dog and a baby (soon to be a mess-making toddler), I would have preferred the larger canister.
I do love my Dyson, though.
