I agree with NWBR's comments above, arts and culture are important but it probably cost the PM a majority in the election last October.....

when it looked like he cut $50 million of arts funding in the province of Quebec. Very quickly blew up and he lost support in that province over it. Arts in Canada are getting the most funding ever and they were simply moving money from underperforming programs to ones that were getting better results.
