I am rapidly wearying of this trend of "Look! We collected a dumb statement about ____ that two dozen people tweeted!"

I thought stupidity on the internet was something to be endured and only infrequently held up in specific examples for ridicule. The compilation and redistribution of scattered idiocy seems... masochistic, maybe.

Or maybe just the laziest way to scrape up a 'backlash' against something (I'm thinking of the Gay Oreo here) to justify a few minutes of self-righteous indignation.

It's hard enough to avoid the comment jar. I don't like dumb comments becoming the story.
