"We have had the most hellish week ever, since I moved here. The triple digit temps (108 today) I'm used to--but not until August usually."

About the time the first fire was contained on Tuesday afternoon (after it burned almost 20,000 acres) a woman driving past that same interstate exit was gawking at the smoke and rear ended the car in front of her. Both cars flipped and went off the road into the scrub. Driver #1's car caught fire. She got out safely as did the driver and passenger of car #2. A firespotter in a helicopter called it in before anyone could even call 911. This fire was contained by Wednesday morning. It was about 2-3 miles from my house and took out about 15,000 acres. There's a link below to a neat pic from out paper showing helicopters dumping water.
Yesterday, there was a smaller fire about 10 miles west, it got put out by midnight, but it kept the smoke in the air.
A while ago, the moon rose and it was blood red. I went outside to look at it and I could smell smoke, really strong. On the plus side, we've had the most gorgeous sunsets the last week, on the minus side, I think I have bronchitis. :)
