aka, shut down the football program for a year or two (put it back in it's place), hang every person who was involved out to dry and start over from scratch.

This scandal is a tumor on PSU. So, what do you do with a tumor like this? You try to get 100.00% of only the infected tissue? No, you get 105% of it and the tissue around it.

Sure, 5% healthy stuff gets dinged, but guess what, you eliminated the problem and started the recovery and didn't let it fester. That 5% here are the people in the football program and the revenue it generates...for the short term.

If you need football to this degree, it's time to re-evaluate the program anyhow.
