In response to "I'm thinking of signing up for a Krav Maga class. -- nm" by Mel Profit

So a question to STers who may know...

from what I know it's a lot of close in fighting. It's elbows and knees. This is utterly alien to me from what training I took 20 years ago, especially the close-in bit. I was taught to make sure someone was as far away from you as possible.

So is my impression of KM right but in the strikes and fighting philosophy? How much do your legs have to work at it? Like all martial arts balance is important but how important is it?
