there are codec/compatibility problems because for the hardware they used, they only purchased versions that had licenses for certain codecs.
ie, the video hardware only plays 2 types of codecs, it will never play other codecs (though people are trying to hackintosh some sorta of operability into it).
so if the Ouya is built to $99, but uses a video hardware that only players mp4, and it cannot play anything else, it isnt as easy of a machine as you think, regardless of its Rooted status.
the hardware is the limiter, not the OS.
