Has a lot to do with lay outs. In our condo, you came in the front door and immediately to the left was the stairway up.

Had trouble getting the king mattress passed the lip of the ceiling before the stairs (had to bend/smash it plus not destroy a stupid hanging light there) and then at the top of the steps you either went left into the bedroom or right into the rest of the upstairs. It was so narrow (as well as the stairway) that we could barely get it o turn into the bedroom.
