The end of the format wars didn't increase Blu-ray sales. Quite the opposite (and as predicted by some), sales are stagnating.

It was predicted by some that the end of the format war would result in higher Blu-ray prices (software and hardware). While it's true that Sony will not be dropping the PS3 price again for Christmas (if the format war had persisted, they may have taken a different approach), I did get Die Hard on Blu-ray for 7 bucks the other day. But that's an outlier. Blu-ray's main competitor remains standard DVDs. And so long as the MSRP for a disc remains in the 30-dollar range, good luck!
Now Netflix is adding a one dollar surcharge to Blu-ray renters? Nice.
