Quick drive by Scout post (spoils)

I don't give one tenth of one shit what BSA National says. I barely care what the Greater St. Louis Area Council or my own North Star District say.

Like Col. Jessup said, "I run my unit how I run my unit."

And I'll tell you right now, that more often than not, that is the case for Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops.

Do I agree with the exclusion of gays and atheists and whoever else? Of course not...that's why MY unit doesn't give a fuck.

When the BSA starts sending me a check, I'll give a fuck about rules like that. as long as I'm volunteering my time, I'll help teach what I consider to be the important parts of the Scouting program to any boy that wants to learn them.

Bottom line...atheists and gay kids can certainly benefit from what I consider to be the core teachings of Scouts.

To quote the oath: "To help other people at all times. To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."

Gay/straight, black/white, atheist/Catholics...all boys will benefit from those things...and that's what I teach in my units. And that's what tens of thousands of other volunteer leaders teach their units.

Despite what National says.
