New rules in the MLB Trade market are going to shrink the 1st round.

It used to be that if you signed a top-tier free agent, you lost your first round pick and it went to the team losing the player...

now, that draft just disappears. So instead of the Cardinals getting the Angels #1 pick and a compensatory pick in the 1st/2nd round gap...now, they'd just get the gap pick and the first round would be 31 picks.
