My first sense is outrage that the mom's rights were completely taken away. However, the child was 7 months old and the only parents he has known has been the American couple that adopted him after the raid. He only speaks English and his mom speaks only Spanish and is being deported to Guatemala as soon as the case his over. He's an American citizen having been born here.
Do you send him back to a country he doesn't know and take him away from the only family he's ever known? Or do you say that this is an extraordinary circumstance and that the mother never intentionally left him and she should have the right to get him back and take him to Guatemala?
