My guess is that their predictions on losses/gains don't balance out in their favour. They want to hold onto their core/faithful base.

Maybe they have biases that skew the numbers. More likely, they are approaching a point where it *will* make sense to accept the gay and possibly transgendered.
Our society really needs a way to expose kids to these "different" kids, so that they can learn how to treat them like human beings. It would be nice if BSA stepped up to the plate on that.
