from bb, max is correct all around re: "girls" (general talk and rantishness)

I watched the first 6 eps on-demand in one night to catch up to that point; the next 2 a while later; and then, after checking the other night to see how long I had to watch the last 2 and seeing that they were going away that night, I watched those.

there was a definite decline as the season progressed. the penultimate ep. made me *angry*, enough that I didn't watch the self-indulgent/masturbatory after piece from dunham that I'd watched for the previous eps. I actually googled "hbo girls unlikeable" even.

the biggest issue with the show, for me, is that the main character is so freaking unlikeable; next is the lazy writing and massive doses of hipster self-focus and the use of profanity in super unnatural ways as if it makes things edgy; and and and.

I ended up mad at myself for watching the last episode, but my completist tendencies took over. oy.

when I googled as mentioned above, it seems the people who are the shows biggest fans read way more into it than is there and/or are backing it because it's woman-driven/focused. not good enough.

unless I hear it's gotten better/changed, no way do I want to go back for a second season.

they could drop kick the main character away and end up with a modern and more real version of friends (since pretty much all of those types are represented already), which could actually be much more interesting and less angering. ;p
