Canada tried the gun registry thing and it failed miserably. I can only imagine the shitstorm it would cause in the US.

and I was totally for it and still am.

Australia tried it and succeeded, more or less. After the killings at Port Arthur all gun owners had to be licenced and have a secure storage place
