gets 39 MPG. If you drive 15,000 miles a year and gas averages $4 a gallon, it will take 47 years for the hybrid to justify its cost over the traditional model.

Each car drives 705k miles in 47 years. The normal pays $72k in gas in that time, the hybrid pays $64k -- nm - Max Jul 20, 12:56
That is only 13% better mileage for a more than 50% higher price. You only save 44 gallons a year and you need 2050 to get to $8200. -- nm - GregW Jul 20, 12:56
