why are guns so expensive? for the most part the tech has no pattents, once the machines are set up to stamp/grind out the parts its paid for just

keep making more. most of the popular ones are carbon fiber plastic (is that expensive? seems like there would be less machining involved in making some complex parts)

for the price of a gun you can buy a really nice bicycle (lots of precision parts, modern metals and a lot more of them)

a computer with a ton of patented licensed tech, complex assembly, metal alloys, motors, lasers, blah blah.

a really good lawn mower with engine, starter etc.
