PSA: If you liked the movie A Single Man, don't bother reading the book. Very different.

Tom Ford needs to get more credit. He took a very blah book, added a brilliant device to make a typical day in the life of a professor interesting. And by changing the beginning, he made the book's original ending both ironic and profound.

Nope but the tone was completely different and the big decision he makes in the beginning of the movie isn't in the book at all. -- nm
