see, i would never expect a man to pay for me like that. cultural difference. it sounds like where she is that is just the way things are.

if she's great in every other way, and the letter writer can afford it and wants to take her, that's fine. if he DOESN'T want it to be all on him financially because that's not HIS belief, that's also fine.
but i don't think she's a gold digger either.
