I think a lot of the plan was Bane. I saw them more as partners in their efforts.
But other than that, there is the idea that his back was fixed with a punch and some push ups.
I imagine if it had been a two part movie we would have seen much more going into it.
How did he know where to find Selena when he got back. I imagine he was there for a while, and finally found her.
How did he get back to Gotham with no money or ID? Bruce has assets, safe houses in various countries.
How did he get in to the city with it in lock down?
Batman has resources, means, devices stashed all over Gotham and the surrounding areas.
Would Bane really take the time to take him to some other country to put him in the prison? Really? (I get the symbolism behind it though) Symbolism aside, they wanted to put him somewhere they thought he would never get out of that would aid in the crushing of his spirit, and that they had some control of.
