So, it just so happened that the bible study I'm in is doing 1 Corinthians and last night we had chapters 5 and 6. For those not familiar, it's one of the big anti-gay verses often quoted. Basically lists homosexuality as a list of bad things...or does it (see link)
I'm often very interested in how the original greek gets translated in the bible as it also often has some great insight into what things mean when it's sometimes hard to get from english translations. In the case of this passage, it's widely debated what the greek meant. To summarize the debate, it seems to be more related to prostitution/slavery/abuse than anything else...
Anyways, maybe it doesn't matter, but I just wanted to say here that I don't think that the bible condems homosexuality (not in the context of a marriage). I believe it has the same to say about heterosexual relationships (fidelity in marriage, celibacy when single).
The one piece that probably gives me more pause are the multiple references to a man and a woman in regards to marriage and unions. Maybe that's the next on my list of things to work out in my faith...
