Can I tell you about the weird thing that happened at my house the other night?

It was the night before last. Very hot outside and ultimately had some serious storms. At about 4:30 in the morning the doorbell rings. In our house the doorbell actually rings our phone (you get 3 short rings to distinguish it from a regular call. You can then answer the phone and talk to whoever's at the door). Of course it's always freaky when the phone rings in the middle of the night, but weirder when it's the doorbell. My dog, of course, jumps up and starts running in circles around the room with a tennis ball in his mouth (because there is nothing in the world more exciting than when somebody is at the door). My wife finally answers the phone and there's nobody there. She hangs up and 10 seconds later it rings again. And this time the radio on my clock radio suddenly turns on and the digital time display starts blinking. You would think power surge or brief outage, but nothing else in the room or the house was affected. This happened 3 or 4 more times. We actually have a camera in the vestibule by the front door so you can see who's there, so I turn on the tv and there is nobody there. Finally after 4 or 5 times total it stops. My dog is freaking out and we kind of are too. We finally all settle back down and about 10 minutes later it all repeats. The phone ringing for the door, the clock radio going off, nobody on the camera, dog running around the room. Again it happens 4 or 5 times straight and then stops. I can't for the life of me figure out what happened. As I said, it would be a weird set of circumstances for a power surge. And if it was a short in the system of some kind you wouldn't expect it to suddenly start working again. Of course after this it's almost impossible to fall back asleep. I actually had a hard time even closing my eyes. Finally at about 6 a huge storm hits and my dog decides he needs to go out. My wife takes him downstairs and lets him in the back yard, and finds the back gate open. Personally I think it was blown open by the 50 mph winds, but still weird. I can't figure it all out. I'm beginning to think ghosts.

I would totally be creeped out, but considering the storm and what not it's probably nothing.

those analog low voltage systems get of whack pretty easily. could have moisture could have been connecting a relay and causing a false button press.

You're either in a Spielberg movie, or whoever installed your security system...
