out of curiosity, I googled and found one shasta who was named after a character in "rio lobo" another from someone in a book.. and I was reminded

that the brave little girl who was abducted from a diner in coeur d'alene several years ago was a shasta, too.
(of course, I wouldn't put it past some people to actually name after the soda "because it's pretty" or the like. oof.)
