The whole estate was placed in a trust for the kids and the people overseeing it are doing a great job of straightening out MJ's horrible mess. It includes providing for the kids and that, of course, benifits the guardian, namely Katherine.

*All* of the siblings are in bad financial messes because they got in the habit of just asking Michael for money when they needed it. Now when they ask the estate to pay back child support or such, they are told no. Thus the power play happening.
