when my dad was dying, i stayed overnight in the hospital the last three nights, my mom and brother were there all day. it's exhausting, but you are there because you can't be anywhere else.
in the end, i was the only one with him when he passed away, my mom and brother didn't get there on time. if we hadn't been there round the clock, he might have been alone.
when you have to do it, you do it. you don't even think about it.
