Then when it's locked you punch in the 4 digit code and it activates the exterior handle again and you can unlock it.

The rest of the time the exterior handle turns freely, which apparently helps prevent certain types of lockpicking.

I don't even know where my key is, I don't think I've ever had to use it since I installed this.

Yeah, I read one of the reviews and they explain it is manually locked/unlocked which is really better than using the battery power to move the bolt. -- nm - GregW Jul 31, 08:21
