Retired parents are funny.

My brother and I went to Florida for a short vacation with our extended family (including our parents) in June. While there, my parents mentioned that they wanted my brother and I to come visit them for a little while over the summer because they want to see us. (Along with this, they did provide assurance that everything is fine, no one is ill, they just want to see us because they miss us and are getting older...so it's nothing scary or anything) They even offered to pay for the plane tickets.

My brother and I weren't sure we could fit this in because of work (brother), work travel (me) and vacation in Europe (both of us). I just got back from a work trip, and my brother has a break for Summer II, so my mom mentioned it again a couple of days ago -- but I was worried about short notice and flight prices, plus my brother needed to get someone to dogsit.

Fast forward to today, my brother has found a dog sitter but flights are expensive with no notice. I tell my mother than a flight tonight costs $100 more than a flight tomorrow night and she says "Who cares, we just want to see you. Book it"

I want to be retired and not worried about money.

Also, I'm flying to Florida tonight and really need to do laundry.
