From BB's: I do ocassionally shop at Wal-Mart, but they do NOT always have the cheapest prices and I find their selction of certain things limited...

I for the most part cant buy clothes there because they do not have my size nor do I like their styles.
For most consumer products, I think of Wal-Mart as one of my first options.
On the small town issue, I think Wal-Mart can easily be beaten. And its simply by not focusing on price. Too many businesses do this and thats why they fail. Wal-Mart customer service sucks for the most part, their staff do not know about most of the products and as listed above their selction of stuff is often limited. I do shop at Wal-Mart for many things, there are many things I would never buy from them (like most food). Price is a factor is many peoples buying decisions, but only about 1/3 of all buying decisions are based soley on price.
I used to work retail and I always got a chance to see marketing and research reports from our head office on this stuff.
