That's a bit coy with facts. He was running in a 55% democratic state in a year of massive democratic strength

he wasn't running as a Democrat, but that he could be palatable to Democrats.
when you're beat on party registration like that, you don't win by only winning GOP votes.
You need to win votes from some of the other side. That's hardly running as a Democrat or hiding his party affilitation.
