My advantage in this case was that I had a card that I had completely paid off about 14 months ago.

And I had not used it at all since then. So I didn't have to apply for a new card, I had enough available credit on it to cover the transfer, and the company was probably anxious for my business considering they'd gotten nothing from me for over a year.
