But with the balance transfer they will now get interest from me when they were getting nothing before. It was a completely unused card before.

However it works it's fine with me. I transferred close to 5 figures to this card at the interest rate I had at the other card. So now this card will get my interest payments because it's going to take me a long time to pay it off. The other card will have no balance on it and they'll now get nothing. And I calculate that it will save me in the area of $700 in interest for this year.
