Brock was poisoned but he didn't die. This is taking that premise to its logical extreme. And a person who makes meth for a living is a bad guy. That's the whole point of the show. The scene I mentioned previously from season 2 where we saw the lives affected by the power of the meth is a perfect demonstration of this.
As for killing the kid being dumb, that's the whole point. After everything they've done, this is what will set them. I fully expect Jesse to somehow find out about Brock because of this.
