fire or flood...I mean like wild fire that burns the whole neighborhood down, or a NOLA like flood?

I would think that a flood is worse.
in a fire, everything is burned away, not much is recognizable, and what there is can be cleaned up as it don't weight much anymore.
in a flood, everything you used to own is not only recognizable, but now you get to see it rotting in stinky goo, you'd have to get a couple dumpsters and everything weighs two or three times as much as its soaked. you'd have to destroy what's left of the house so you could start again.
(random musing due to news reports of rampant summer wild fires)
