actually ate back then. I mean, they didn't have dentists or oral hygenists, the average adult didn't have many teeth left. veggies, soups, rye based bread, stews etc were staples, boiled to mush. meat was for feasts. gruel was an actual thing, porridge, curds adn whey...I wouldn't doubt if there was a recipe called SLOPS
