i've been a student of Wado-Ryu karate now for 20 years as of this month ... in our organization, well, the Eastern United STates branch of our federation, we have a number of 7th degree black belts ... they generally reserved 8th for only a *very few* in the federation .... and of course, there's our sitting 'master' ... who's getting old (no disrespect, of course) and is like 9th ....

and yeah ... at 5th, i can 'technically' officially call myself a sensei
