I think the rumors of Bundy being called up started around the time Thome did a quick trip to scout him.

Which was really just Thome asking Buck what he could do to help the team while h was on the DL, and Buck asked him to see how Bundy's stuff is from a hitter's perspective. Thome watched 3-4 innings and then got to the O's game before it started to give his report.
I can see why Thome has such a good reputation.
