When you have a STRICT belief in a certain group of rules you will bend the truth even 180 degrees so that it cannot disprove that rule.

The trick is to have an open mind. Don't believe things that are absurd, but be open to possibilities that may not be part of what you know to be true but have sound merits.
Bluntly speaking. Religion is close minded poison. You seek the solutions that ONLY fit into your pretty little wrapped up box of ideals.
