TMZ.com featured a quote from a WWE spokesperson that Fred Durst was not escorted out of Summerslam after flipping the bird last night, but immediately went backstage to apologize for his actions and left the venue.
The WWE production truck blew a gasket when Durst flipped the middle finger at the camera while being shown at ringside.
Several WWE sources noted that the company asked Durst to leave but WWE stated, on record, to TMZ.com: "We appreciate Fred�s apology. However, we take our family-friendly environment very seriously and this was a violation of that. We sincerely apologize to our fans."
As noted earlier, Durst took to Twitter claiming he was not ejected and left to "beat traffic" but later pulled those comments from his account.
