the one thing I have a problem with is someone saying their decision should supercede another person's right to decide for themselves

I mean - the bumper sticker that says "if you don't like abortions don't have one" could also extend to gay marriage - "if you don't want one don't have one"
but don't think you have the right to tell someone else what they should or should not be doing
I think that's where I have an issue is people who can't seem to draw that line there and get all crazed about it. Worry about your own mortal soul - let me worry about mine.
