I find that part of the reason this subject is such a powder keg is that most refuse (both sides, f the tip jar!) to listen. So, they keep the anger bottled up, and start making assumptions about other side.
Even the most staunchly pro-life and stuanchly pro-choice people have more common ground on the subject than they probably realize.
When I've talked to people one on one about abortion, sure there's tension, but I think there's a lot less assumptions and anger at the end of the conversation.
