The rules state in goes into your first available slot. That is the 1.5 position because you traded for it. Therefore, Rice goes into that slot.
You may have intended it to work the other way, but once you get the pick it becomes yours and would fall under the wording in the league constitution.
It sucks but you have to follow the rules. You can try to change them but you're stuck for this year.
