i.e. school, clothes, medical coverage, general care.
Not trips to the spa, a direct flight into Disneyworld, etc.

honestly, i think it depends. i don't know why Tom Cruise wouldn't be expected to make sure his daughter is provided for in a way

It is. And as pointed out on B2, for the wealthy, ensuring the child is cared for well can include an expensive education, a nanny, security etc. -- nm
