beer grains have natural nutrition already, cheap ass moonshine made with a bag of sugar and a packet of yeast has little nutritional value for yeast

also, in making vodka your separating the alcohol from the mash that produced it, either using a vapor reflux or fractionating column, or if old school with a pot still and coil, running two or three times through. some of these rigs can produce 95% alcohol which is strong enough to power a car. So much of the 'flavor' of whatever the mash is is stripped out.
american sugar shiners use a table spoon of tomato paste and/or some vitamin pills crushed up.
