Wow. Just talked to a good friend of mine...she's supposed to be a grandmother any day now! Turns out there's some...issues.

Her daughter-in-law was due a week and a half ago, was induced a few days ago. The baby reacted very poorly to the induction drugs they gave her. The doctors did some bloodwork and found out that she (mom) has an extremely low platelet count. So right now she's getting blood transfusions. If she WAS to deliver (whether naturally or by c-section), there is a chance she won't clot. The doctors are using the term "catastrophic". So neither mom or baby are doing really well.

Meanwhile, my friend is set to undergo knee surgery in 2 weeks (she hurt herself at work months ago, she's been waiting to undergo surgery for a while now, but had to go through workers comp-related hoops), and she's hoping to be recovered in enough time for her 3rd son's wedding in 5 weeks.

UGH. When it rains it pours.
